Echoes of Aincrad's build system has two pillars: Growth Points invested in seven stats, and EX-MODs that customise individual weapons. This page explains what official sources confirm — no best-build or tier ranking is provided.

Growth Points — Seven Stats

Growth Points are allocated across seven attributes. Weapon skills can scale with relevant stats — the specific scaling relationships are not enumerated beyond this general statement in the official guide.

Strength Dexterity Agility Intelligence Vitality Endurance Mind

EX-MOD Customisation

EX-MODs customise weapons with effects. Combining two weapons of the same type pools their EX-MODs, allowing up to four EX-MODs on a single weapon.

Cardinal Rank

Cardinal Rank affects merchant and smithy availability. The official guide also says monster difficulty, item drops, and partner abilities respond to Cardinal Rank.

Partner and Switch System

Combat includes a partner system with two modes:

  • Switch Mode — draws enemy focus with the partner.
  • Free Mode — focuses enemies together.

Partners have distinct fighting styles, Combination Skills, and Support Skills (which can include healing and offensive or defensive buffs).

Town of Beginnings

The Town of Beginnings has a merchant who uses Col. Craftable items include healing items and mines that can damage enemies or reveal hidden paths or shortcuts.
